Cybersecurity Professionals Cite Agentic AI, LLMs, and Infrastructure Breaches as Top Concerns

SC Media, Wednesday, July 1st, 2026

Security pros rank AI systems and cloud breaches as top threats, with over 40 percent hit by infrastructure compromises.

A Bitdefender survey of more than 1,200 IT and security professionals across six countries finds that internal AI systems and large language models are the top concern for 45 percent of respondents, closely followed by cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities at 44 percent.

Within the past year, 41.8 percent experienced cloud breaches, 35.9 percent faced business email compromise, and 25.6 percent were hit by ransomware. The research identifies self-mutating malware at 55.9 percent and sensitive data leaks into public LLMs at 53.5 percent as the most pressing AI-driven threats.

Organizations struggle with attack surface reduction due to maintenance overhead, disruption fears, and resource constraints, while nearly half lack visibility into shadow AI tools.
