AI and cybersecurity, the two fastest-growing skills, are increasingly demanded of the same hybrid professional.
The two fastest-growing skills globally are AI and cybersecurity, which the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 ranks at the top alongside big data.
Historically these were distinct careers with separate conferences, certifications, and teams, but employers now expect both from one person.
About 59 percent of security professionals expect demand for hybrid skills to climb over the next three to five years. These hybrid roles require understanding attack surfaces, interrogating why a model behaved as it did, and evaluating whether a deployed system is drifting from intended behavior.
The ideal professional also needs compliance literacy, able to discuss adversarial inputs with engineers and regulatory exposure with general counsel.
