Six Months At Citrix: A Reflection

Vol 337 · Issue 4 · 2026-04-23

Six months into my role at Citrix, I've found myself thinking a lot about where I came from. Not in a nostalgic way, but in a very real, almost day-to-day sense. I spent years as a CIO walking the hospital floor, sitting in rooms where decisions weren't theoretical.

The Saaspocalypse Won't Touch The Enterprise Software Moat

Vol 337 · Issue 4 · 2026-04-22

Last week Daniel Miessler published The Fire of Fires, describing how he canceled six SaaS tools (Zapier, Resend, Figma, Canva, Browserbase, & Supabase), rebuilt the functionality himself using Claude Code and his personal AI harness, and used it as evidence that AI is about to burn through most of the SaaS industry. His story is clear and drives the 'I canceled my SaaS' flex which is going to be all over LinkedIn for the next year.

What's Left For Humans?

Vol 337 · Issue 2 · 2026-04-09

A Citrix colleague and I were talking about AI's impact on knowledge work. I was droning on (and on and on) about agents doing the work, apps dissolving, and the cognitive stack becoming the new workspace, when she stopped me and said: 'Okay, but if AI is doing all of that, what's actually left for humans?'

When Session Recording Stops Scaling

Vol 336 · Issue 3 · 2026-03-19

When a serious breach or security incident hits, enterprises rarely suffer from a lack of data. They suffer from a lack of usable evidence. And the longer it takes to find that evidence, the higher the business risk: audit exposure grows, downtime extends, and customer (not to mention, government regulator) trust erodes.

Divestitures And Carve-Outs: Untangling Spaghetti

Vol 335 · Issue 3 · 2026-02-17

In the world of corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) grab the big headlines. They are the high-stakes, high-visibility deals that capture the imagination. But there's another side to that coin that can be more complex, technically difficult, and demanding for the IT organization: divestitures and carve-outs.

OpenClaw And Moltbook Preview The Changes Needed With Corporate AI Governance

Vol 335 · Issue 1 · 2026-02-04

If you've been following the tech news over the past few weeks, you've probably seen OpenClaw everywhere. OpenClaw is an open source, locally-running AI digital assistant & agent that connects to messaging platforms, executes real actions on your system, and has even spawned an entire AI-only social network (Moltbook) where agents interact on their own without human prompts. It's weird and fascinating and was not on my 2026 bingo card.

Security By Design, Proven By Action With Citrix NetScaler

Vol 334 · Issue 3 · 2026-01-21

Security is not a feature you bolt on at the end of a product roadmap. Over the last few years, we've all watched vulnerabilities and breaches move from occasional disruptions to near-constant headlines-whether it is widely exploited CVEs, high-profile incidents impacting core infrastructure, or vulnerabilities like React2Shell that reminded the industry how quickly seemingly isolated issues can cascade.

The CIO's M&A Integration Dilemma: Speed Vs. Security

Vol 333 · Issue 3 · 2025-12-15

A merger or acquisition can be one of the most defining and demanding moments in a CIO's career. While the CEO and CFO stand in the spotlight of the press release, the CIO is tasked with the complex reality on the ground: seamlessly combining two distinct, complex, and often culturally different IT ecosystems - and often hoping that there are no bad surprises, beyond the ones they already know about.
